PSP Dead Pixel Checker
The issue of dead pixels in the heat of the launch has made even those with PSPs in perfect condition nervous that they might not be knowing what to look for.
For those not sure whether their PSPs are free of dead pixels, IGN member krypt0nian sent a series of checking images that can be uploaded to the PlayStation Portable (via a compatible USB cable and a home PC or Mac.) These images should help people look at their screen under specific conditions and know for sure if their system is clean. You can download the file for installing on your PSP below.

Dead pixels were an issue with the first few batches of PSPs. I remember I was slightly concerned when I bought mine 18 months ago, as it turns out, it didnt have a dead pixel, but it had a spec of dirt OVER a pixel which snuck its way in during the manufacturing. Luckily the place I bought the PSP from swapped it despite there being nothing physically wrong with it. There are some homebrew applications that do the same job.
